Being gagged from complaining

We invited members of our community to share their experiences and perspectives of aged care services. Disclaimer: These stories have not been independently verified. They do not necessarily represent the opinion of Aged Care Reform Now and are shared for information purposes only.

Several staff lodged a complaint with the ACQSC (Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission) about the standards of care in the aged care home we work. They received 9 separate complaints. Someone from head-office came and ripped us all to shreds. We were told we should not have done this. I feel she gagged us from complaining. If we don’t speak up on behalf of the residents about appalling standards of care, who will?
