Maintaining momentum – Aged Care Reform Now
Members Amina Schipp and Yves Bee meet Senator Dean Smith

Hi {name},

May is going to be a huge month for aged care with the Federal Budget coming out on Tuesday 11 May and the Government set to provide its response to the Aged Care Royal Commission by 31 May. It’s important we keep up the pressure!

Aged Care Reform Now April Media Coverage

The month of April saw Aged Care Reform Now continue to receive coverage from the media including stories about sexual assault in aged care, the vaccine rollout ‘shemozzle’ and the continued failure of the government to provide consistent, quality aged care.

Aged Care Reform Now was featured in The Guardian on 11 April  and also in an editorial for Michael West Media on the same day.

Dr. Sarah Russell, Aged Care Reform Now co-founder, was also quoted in the 13 April ABC article on aged care closures in regional areas:

"I find it extraordinary that taxpayer's money is going into the aged care sector, a whopping $21 billion is spent on aged care, and the public really have no way of knowing how that money has been spent," she told 7.30.

Our calls continue for a better regulated system with better funding and checks.

Political progress - Help make our voices heard and our stories count.

One very powerful way to make a difference is to let our politicians know that aged care is important to the people that vote for them. Our political action group has been leading the charge to lobby politicians for meaningful reform. Check out our website to see what they’ve been up to

You can help by joining our MP mail blitzes. We are asking our supporters, friends, and family to write to certain politicians to ask for change.

We are now targeting local MPs, but if you haven’t already taken part in an earlier blitz, it’s not too late.

We have simple letter templates to start you writing and you can find out the details of your local MP.

Yours in action,
